PrepNorthwest spreads its love from the top-down. Meet Molly Metz, Saira Bettencourt and Terry Lin. Each has unique talents that make him/her amazing! The magic: the three of them combine their powers to develop ways to give you and your student an amazing experience and work hard to create a positive environment for everyone to shine. From customer service, to curriculum development, systems, and training... to the occasional knee-slapping joke, these three get results and have fun as administrators. Molly, Saira and Terry are the background and foundation of PrepNorthwest that has been kicking for 10 years with no signs of stopping!
Saira (rhymes with "Tyra") hails from the San Francisco Bay Area. She received her B.A. in Psychology from California State University, Chico and went on to obtain a Masters in Educational Counseling from the University of La Verne. During her time as a graduate student Saira was able to work with a wide array of students and families to help them achieve their academic and personal goals. She also served as a testing coordinator at a Northern California elementary school, where she became familiar with testing protocol and procedures. Her belief in the power of education coupled with her desire to serve families led her to the PrepNorthwest team. Saira enjoys creating works of art; beating her husband at Skip-Bo; laughing out loud; cuddling with her son, Elias; and snacking on anything containing sugar!
Molly earned a B.A. in Psychology from the College of Wooster where she ran cross-county and track. As a National Qualifier and Academic All-American, Molly was convinced she would be a Coach. After spending two years working with City Year (an AmeriCorps program) Molly realized that teaching is coaching. With this in mind, she combined her love of pedagogy and passion for business, and in 1999, became the Director of Score! Prep, an in-home test-prep business for high school students. There, she managed markets in Seattle and Portland before moving to Chicago to manage markets all across the Midwest. After a successful 2 years in the Windy City, Molly returned to Seattle, met business partner Terry Lin, and in 2004, co-founded PrepNorthwest. In her spare time, Molly enjoys running, mixing music, eating brownie edges and solving puzzles.
Terry earned a B.S. in Chemical Engineering from the University of Washington during which time he was awarded "Tutor of the Year" from the UW WISE for his outstanding success teaching young adults at all levels of math, chemistry and engineering courses. After getting his degree, he worked as a fuel cell research scientist and a chemical salesperson for over 2 years. Soon thereafter, Terry devoted all of his time back into his love and passion... teaching high school students. In Terry's spare time, he enjoys building things out of wood, website design, programming computers and inventing cool gadgets. As you might encounter on this website, Terry is the inventor of his patented calculator slide case, the EZ Graphing slide case, a calculator cover that drastically cuts homework time and eliminates the need for pricey graphing paper.
